Coleman and I wrote this as the 20th Century Blues, based on some changes I wrote. It mentioned many dated technologies like System 5, DOS 4 and Lotus 123. Eventually, I updated it to 21st century. 🤣

We got IoT, mp3 and IGtv
Retinal scan, DNA strands, to make sure that I am me
URLs, straight from Hell, augment your reality
GPS so you don’t get lost, down on some scary street
24/7 news,
to set that groove for the 21st century blues

We got video lounge, surround sound, and tobacco-less cigarettes
Fake ground round, downtown brown, influencers and their pets
Cyclones and hurricanes, tidal waves abound
A world of human suffering, and hardship to be found
Like the holes in my shoes
It’s decade two of the 21st century blues

We had Y2K, KY too and everything between
Space junk falling from the sky, Like a cosmic lottery
Internet has VR sex and networks for everyone
Weather live and streaming jive, hackers on the run
I don’t think we’ll see twenty-two…
if we don’t find a cure for the 21st century blues
I don’t think we’ll see 22…
